Somber and Still

By Matt Bruce

Somber and still lie dormant in the perception of his past,
Blending into the visions of yesterdays the time had amassed,

Somber and still were the fading conceptions of who he once was,
With his world captivated by eyes bearing ordinance of dejection in her last,

She finds him as he once was, breeding the deceit of ire and forlorn,
She enters him into an embrace he once believed to be of passion adorned,

Somber and still are the moments of regret permeating his will,
Somber and still until the need supersedes the want of what was his to instill,

Through the acceptance of need, he returns to her side with patience of fate,
Standing beside the love and the widow of a life he believed in days too late,

I was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia
My education started after I left school.
I have never showcased my work beyond sharing with a couple friends when the mood strikes.
